CampGenie – Summer Camp Marketplace Rescue
A founder-led summer camp marketplace that launched after I stabilized an unstable agency build — booking, payments, E2E coverage, and admin tooling under a hard seasonal deadline.
Launched — stabilized and shipped under a seasonal deadline
CampGenie is a founder-led marketplace for discovering and booking summer camps in the US. I was brought in after an agency-built product looked polished but was too unstable for the founder to confidently show to families and camps — with parents already searching and camps needing booking readiness, the launch window was seasonal and unforgiving.
I started with a paid discovery phase to assess the codebase and clarify the real launch risks, then converted a chaotic agency handoff into fixed-scope delivery phases, working directly with the founder as sole technical owner.
Across the stabilization and product phases I:
- Stabilized the critical family and camp flows — onboarding, search, booking, Stripe payments, security, analytics, and admin operations
- Introduced Playwright E2E coverage, local Supabase workflows, RLS hardening, health checks, and analytics instrumentation to build release confidence under the seasonal deadline
- Built operational tooling for a non-technical founder: admin list/detail pages, booking and transaction drill-downs, direct program editing, Slack ops alerts, and centralized transactional email
- Extended the product model to support direct/referral partnerships, custom-date mini camps, holiday-shortened schedules, per-session capacity enforcement, and richer family search
The product moved from rescue mode into roadmap mode: with the core experience trustworthy, the founder could focus on growth, merchandising, and partnerships. I worked AI-assisted throughout, with tests and CI as the guardrails that kept delivery fast without sacrificing confidence.
